Five things you can do right now to save Energy & Money
1. Install new Energy Star qualified CFL's -- New compact fluorescent light bulbs use 75% less energy than the old incandescent ones and last 10 times longer.
2. Turn off the lights -- Even though the new CFL's use less energy, no bulb saves energy like the one that is turned off. So when it's not needed, flip the switch.
3. Pay bills online -- There is a stack of green savings here. No check. No stamp. No envelope. No gasoline to mail in payments.
4. Turn down heat -- Every degree you dial up or down could save 1% to 3% on your energy bill. That's cool savings on a hot topic.
5. Set computer's energy settings -- Set your computer for energy efficiency. It's easy. On a PC go to your computer's "control panel/power options," and select when you want your computer to enter energy saving mode. The savings will compute in no time.
